Iraq: Foreign Minister Zebari receives Russian Ambassador Jamov in Baghdad

His Excellency Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari received Mr. Alexander Jamov, Russian Ambassador in Baghdad on Friday morning 11 July,2008, , who handed him a letter from his Russian counterpart Mr. Sergi Lavrov, regarding the bilateral relations between both countries.

His Excellency explained the most important developments in Iraq recently, pointing out that the bilateral relations between Iraq and neighboring countries are flourishing everyday, especially in term of the mutual visits by senior officials in Baghdad and other capitals, especially the latest visit of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister, to Baghdad yesterday, as well as the arrival of a number of officials from various countries around the world to Iraq during the last period and next stage. His Excellency Minister Zebari stressed that the Iraqi government succeeded in achieving stability and attracting various States to contribute in building and reconstructing Iraq , under the general budget of the current year, which is considered the biggest budget in the history of modern Iraq .

Minister Zebari discussed with Ambassador Jamov the various aspects of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow and the ways to develop and improve them through coordinating the joint meetings and visits, stressing his keenness, as a Head of the Supreme Iraqi – Russian Committee, to upgrade the level of joint cooperation and relations and upgrading them to the more develops and powerful prospects to achieve the higher interests for both countries.

Ambassador Jamov appreciated his reception by Minister Zebari, renewing Moscow 's keenness to achieve more cooperation with Baghdad .

The meeting was attended by a number of officials in Foreign Ministry.
