Italy: Minister Frattini hails the formation of Lebanon's new government of national unity

Minister for Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini today hailed the formation of Lebanon's new government of national unity.

This is an important step forward in implementing the Doha agreements that bears witness to the desire of all the Lebanese political forces to proceed in harmony toward the country's stabilisation.

"Lebanon deserves the peace and security that only a solid and lasting accord agreed to by all its various societal components can ensure. I hope", Minister Frattini added, "that a democratic dynamic founded on a healthy dialectical debate can now be established once and for all as a mechanism for development and growth, with a view also to establishing a calm political climate ahead of the upcoming political elections".

Minister Frattini reiterated his support for Prime Minister Siniora, whom he encouraged to pursue his efforts in the service of the Lebanese people.
