South Korea: President Lee proposes full resumption of inter-Korean dialogue

President Lee Myung-bak on Friday (July 11) proposed that South and North Korea immediately resume dialogue across the board for discussions on the denuclearization of North Korea, implementation of the existing inter-Korean summit agreements and cross-border humanitarian cooperation.

In an address to the opening session of the newly elected National Assembly, Lee declared his renewed determination to push ahead with privatization of inefficiently run public corporations, deregulatory reforms and the creation of a low carbon emission society, as part of his economic revival campaign.

Lee also urged the National Assembly to ratify the stalled free trade agreement deal with the U.S. as soon as possible out of consideration for the nation's future.
