Russia: Commentary by the Information and Press Department of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Concerning Media Reports of Claims to Land Plot of Russian Embassy in Prague

Question: How could you comment on the recent publications in Czech and Russia media about claims being laid to the land plot on which the Russian embassy compound in Prague sits?

Commentary: We have received no approaches from the official authorities of the Czech Republic in this connection. Russia as a continuer of the USSR is a conscientious gift recipient and owner of this real estate used for diplomatic purposes. That status is securely protected by the current legislation of the Czech Republic and generally recognized international law and cannot be challenged.

On these grounds, the Russian side resolutely rejects any attempts to question its rights to the state property of the Russian Federation, including that outside Russia. If, however, somebody has questions about Russian diplomatic real estate in the Czech Republic, they should be addressed to the authorities of that country
